Epic Games’ enduringly popular free-to-play battle royale title is roughly a month into its Chapter 3 Season 4. The hotfix comes only a week or so after Fortnite’s 22.10 update, which added another use for this season’s new Key item in the form of Holo-Chests. Players can see the type and color of the weapon inside the chest before they open it, which can also include the new Cobra DMR, and perhaps now the Explosive Goo Gun.

Fortnite’s Explosive Goo Gun is one of the more unique weapons the game has seen, featuring some distinctive characteristics. Essentially functioning like napalm, the new gun allows the wielder to spray any surface or opponent with a volatile goo, which will then explode a few seconds after impact. The weapon’s goo reserves should be used wisely as it cannot be reloaded, similar to the Ripsaw Launcher. Found from the ground, Chests, and Supply Drops, Fortnite players will have their best shot at tracking one down over the next few days, with its spawn rate increased until the next update.

The other new item being added as part of the latest Fortnite hotfix is the Throwable Launch Pad. The new utility item functions in the same way as a regular Launch Pad, except this one includes a sturdy, deployable base. Like this season’s new Port-A-Bunker, the new throwable item creates support structures when activated, allowing players to quickly take to the skies for any situation. Found from the ground, Chests, and Supply Drops, the Throwable Launch Pad’s one downside is that it takes up an inventory slot.

Fortnite’s new hotfix update also marks the unvaulting of the Shield Bubble item. Unvaulted and re-vaulted a number of times this year in varying stints, the Shield Bubble creates a dome impenetrable to all projectiles and explosives. Excellent at giving squads instant cover, the item also excels as a shield for vehicles, with the item able to stay on a vehicle when moving. As with the two new items, Shield Bubbles can be found from the ground, Chests, and Supply Drops.

With another new update well into October, some fans may be wondering where Fortnite’s Halloween content is at. Fans can rest assured though, as it’s been confirmed that Fortnite’s Fortnitemares Halloween event will officially be returning on October 18.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
