The Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass was enjoyable for many players, as it had unique skins with multiple styles for players to work towards unlocking; two of the Fortnite Battle Pass skins this season were even part of known franchises such as The Witcher and Doom. This provoked a very positive reaction not only from Fortnite gamers but fans of these other games as well. However, even though these skins stood out for certain gamers, they were just a fraction of what the Battle Pass has to offer. Plus, with this latest update, players can get even more out of this pass.

In the most recent hotfix that Epic Games released, they revealed that they were releasing the first Midseason Drop. But that’s not all that’s been put into the game - players can now try out these brand-new styles as they rock the just-added Guardian Shield - a throwable item that spawns inside Oathbound Chests and allows players to create a temporary shield bubble around them.

The first drop will add an alternative style for the Selene skin - it can be unlocked once the player gains ten account levels. As the season continues, players will be allowed to unlock additional styles for various obtainable Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass skins by earning more levels. By the end of the season, they can get Midseason Drop styles for the Selene, Massai, Doom Slayer, Dusty, and Nezumi skins. The styles can be previewed in the Midseason Drops tab of the Battle Pass menu.

The Guardian Shield works very much like the now-vaulted Shield Bubble item - the only difference is that it’s slightly more portable. Players can throw this time, and once it grabs ahold of a structure, it’ll stay there and create a protective dome around it. The Guardian Shield can be used as many times as the user wishes as long as they get it back after throwing it. It’s an energy-powered item, and players can keep one and throw it indefinitely as long as it doesn’t run out of energy; the more it’s been used, the less energy it’ll have. It’s particularly useful at the start of a match or in Hot Spot areas in Fortnite with players everywhere.

Fortnite is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
