As many who have recently logged into Epic Games’ wildly popular battle royale title know, Fortnite recently added an area to Pleasant Park that alluded to the movie. It was complete with the iconic drain, as well as the balloons that are synonymous with Pennywise the clown. This was initially added on September 4 — 2 days before IT Chapter Two released — but recently removed on September 9.

Typically, events associated with movies begin around the time, if not shortly before, the release of the movie. This was the case with the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame Fortnite crossovers, and it’s been a constant with others as well. Because of this removal and because the movie has already been released in theatres, it seems to be a definite no to the event happening after all.
There seems to be two possible explanations for this lack of Pennywise in Fortnite. First, it could be that developer Epic Games was preparing the event but decided against it due to the content, or secondly, it may have never been meant to be more than a nice Easter egg for the movie. An actual explanation doesn’t seem likely, so we wouldn’t hold our breath as to getting one or the event actually happening at all now.
While this will indubitably be disappointing for fans of both Fortnite and horror movies, Epic Games is still on a warpath when it comes to adding content in season 10. New Rift Zones are constantly being added, weapons have recently been vaulted, and challenges are a-plenty. So, for those who are working on the latest, here’s where to find the Fortnite season 10 week 6 battle star.
Fortnite is out now for Mobile devices, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
