Apparently, even though mouse and keyboard controls are not officially supported on either PS4 or Xbox One, some third-party peripheral manufacturers’ mouse and keyboard kits for consoles have gained popularity among many of Fortnite’s fans. Unfortunately, however, the latest update has broken them. With this being the case, Epic has said that it will need to make a matchmaking change to fix the issue, as it will let players get paired against others based on the peripherals that are being used.
“Tl;dr if you’re on KB+M you’ll be against KB+M."
One user on the official Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit then asked Epic whether or not PC players who favor controllers over mice and keyboards should expect to be matched against another player using a controller. Another Epic representative chimed in to answer this question, stating that next week’s breakdown of what Epic is planning “will hopefully clear up some commonly asked questions around this.”
While this tweak to the matchmaking algorithm will likely be welcomed with open arms by the majority of Fortnite fans – as it will make for a more balanced experience overall – Epic didn’t provide a time frame as to when this fix will be implemented in the game. At any rate, at least players will have Season 5 Week 5’s Battle Pass Challenges to keep them busy until more information drops next week.
Fortnite is available now for iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and is currently in beta for Android.
