A Fortnite player by the name of Elemental_Ray was able to set a new world record for the highest number of kills in a solo matchup with 48 kills in total by simply destroying a massive ramp filled with players watching the launch. Directly after doing this, Elemental_Ray’s very own ramp was destroyed resulting in a death for him or her by falling as well.
Prior to the match, Elemental_Ray maintained a 0.47K/D ratio and a 0.6 win ratio, which may not really matter all that much now that he or she holds the record for most kills in a solo match. Some players have praised Elemental_Ray’s actions, whereas others were understandably angry about the situation.
Some of the players who were victim to Elemental_Ray’s actions were at least somewhat lucky enough to actually be able to see the rocket launch event as they plummeted to the ground. There have been many Fortnite fans who have voiced anger and frustration on social media over missing out on the launch during the event by another player trying to boost their stats.
As Fortnite developers Epic Games have stated that the rocket launch would be a one-time event, it is easy to understand why some were very angered at what could be deemed as rather selfish behavior by other players. That said, it will be interesting to see whether anyone is able to beat the new solo record. It is almost expected now that many players will be using events which inspire similar sentiments of camaraderie as an opportunity to try to beat the record in future.
Fortnite is available now on iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
