The Falcon Scout was this Fortnite update’s main focus; this item is entirely different from anything that the game has ever seen before. It’s a drone that looks exactly like a mechanical hawk, so its movements in-game are very similar to those of a bird of prey. Mainly, the Falcon Scout is supposed to be used as a scouting machine. As its name indicates, it can scan the nearby area for enemies and create markers, but that’s not all, the drone also has the ability to carry items and downed players.

Ever since its release, Fortnite fans have been trying to see what they can do with the Falcon Scout. It turns out that it can pick up a strangely wide variety of items from the ground. In a hilarious clip, Reddit user Milan_udn shares their Falcon Scout snatching a Victory Crown from an opponent right after witnessing them eliminating the crown’s original owner.
Victory Crowns were added to Fortnite a little over a year ago during Chapter 3, and they’re highly coveted because they can be extremely hard to acquire; this is exactly why the player in the clip decides to grab the Victory Crown rather than the Medkit, even though they’re at 27 HP. Victory Crowns can only be obtained by getting a Victory Royale or looting them from a player that has one. If a player is eliminated and their Victory Crown isn’t picked up in time, it’ll disappear permanently. Getting a Victory Royale while holding a Victory Crown will increase the number displayed on the Crowning Achievement emote which resets every season.
Thankfully, fan response regarding the Falcon Scout was overall positive so far. The same can’t be said for the nerfed Shockwave Hammer that, even though isn’t as powerful as it was before, still isn’t a fan-favorite in the Fortnite community; many players believe it’s simply too overpowered to remain in the game altogether. Throughout the next couple of weeks, gamers will surely continue to find ways to take advantage of the Falcon Scout and make entertaining plays that can turn into funny clips.
Fortnite is available for mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
