The official Fortnite Twitter account made the announcement today that Playground Mode is returning on Wednesday, July 25th. The development team is taking fan feedback into account when presenting this new version of Playground Mode, which will offer more team select options and loot than the original.
This new version of Playground Mode will also feature the ATK golf carts that were added with the season 5 update. While shopping carts were technically the first major vehicle added to the Fortnite battle royale map, ATKs have far more uses as they are able to transport a full squad of four players at one time and their roofs can be used to bounce to higher areas.
It’s unclear how long this version of Playground Mode will stay in Fortnite, but more information should come soon. Epic has promised more details in the 5.10 patch notes for the game, which should also reveal what else the next update will do.
In the meantime, fans have more limited-time modes besides Playground to look forward to this season. While we don’t know everything that’s coming, dataminers have found evidence that a mode called Tactics Showdown is on the way. Official details are scarce, but apparently Tactics Showdown will put a cap on the amount of resources and ammunition players can carry, and will make it so player-built structures can be destroyed more easily. Based on that information, it sounds like Tactics Showdown will have more strategic gameplay than the core Fortnite battle royale experience.
It’s unclear when Tactics Showdown will be added to Fortnite, but fans can look forward to Playground Mode making its return on Wednesday, July 25.
Fortnite is available now in early access on iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
