In a recent statement shared on Reddit, Epic Games said that while all of the changes made to Paragon in the past were intended to help the game reach a wider audience, none of the major overhauls brought to the title have been enough for it to reach “mainstream success.” What’s more is that the company said, “This, combined with the humbling success of Fortnite has caused us to question if we have a good path to grow Paragon and make it thrive.”
Although Epic Games will be releasing a new update for Paragon this week and will continue working on the game for the foreseeable future, the language used throughout the post indicates that players should expect the tempo of updates for the title to slow down a bit. As it so happens, Epic Games openly admitted to shifting the majority of its attention onto Fortnite.
While Paragon’s post-launch lifespan looks relatively bleak, at least Epic Games is being forthright with what’s going on and engaging with the shooter/MOBA hybrid’s fans to ask them what they believe would be the most beneficial path to take to grow the title’s user base. Bearing this in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising if Paragon eventually loses support due to Fortnite skyrocketing in popularity, but it’s also important to not count the game out. After all, the industry of full of stories of big video game comebacks.
Fortnite is available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with the game’s full release expected at some point in 2018.
