According to Reddit user cl0cked, the team spent 55 minutes in the Fortnite match building a massive steel structure that was apparently supposed to look like the Eiffel Tower. The structure was rather impressive and intricate, but all the work the team put into constructing it was for naught, as a mistake brought the entire thing crumbling to the ground.
As can be seen in the video below, something happened that caused the entire tower to be destroyed. It’s unclear if the axe swings by Aragon caused the collapse or not, and from the video, it really is difficult to determine exactly what happened here. However, players can check out the footage and decide for themselves what went wrong.

Fortnite’s building mechanic is one of the ways it stands out from other battle royale games on the market, and may be why it has become the most popular game in the genre by a significant margin. After all, similar mechanics are used in Minecraft, a game that, according to recent reports, has even more active players than Fortnite does. Fortnite essentially combines the battle royale craze with Minecraft building elements, so it’s easy to see why the game has such mass appeal.
Despite its building elements, it’s not all that common to see players build massive steel structures in the game outside of its Playground Mode. That’s because steel is one of the more difficult materials to come by in Fortnite, and while steel structures can withstand more damage than wooden ones, it’s far easier to build up a significant supply of wood. The looming threat of the storm also means that players can’t really just stay in one spot and build all the time, so usually structures are built on the fly in the middle of firefights to throw off opponents.
If players still decide to spend time building large structures, here’s hoping they are more mindful about the architecture of what they’re building.
Fortnite is out now in early access on iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
