Public matches in Fortnite is where many of the fun and wacky items end up, whereas Epic Games tries to keep the competitive loot pool more balanced and fair. Balancing is often achieved by not adding new weapons and items to the competitive loot pool until they’ve been tested in public matches first to ensure they won’t disrupt the integrity of the game. But, when it comes to a brand new Fortnite season with an overhauled loot pool and new set of mechanics, these are put into competitive immediately and tweaked over time.

With the first hotfix update of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 being recently released, Epic Games has continued to make balancing tweaks to some of the weapons in the game, as well as remove the new Titan Tanks from Arena and tournaments. In a tweet, Epic Games explained the changes that have been made to the game.
Fortnite Chapter 3 has so far been heavily focused on the SMGs, with them being much more powerful than the Shotguns that are in the game. This should hopefully not be the case now as the damage for both the Combat and Stinger SMG have been reduced, as well as the headshot damage of the Combat SMG. Players were able to deplete all of the health of their opponent in one second, which can be incredibly frustrating in the Zero Build mode, so this should allow players more time to react to the damage.
The voting system is also set to make a return in the coming days, with it being previously used to fund the Armored Battle Bus vehicle. This time players will be able to choose between unvaulting the Combat Assault Rifle or the MK-Seven Assault Rifle. Before voting begins on April 4, players will be able to use both weapons in game from April 2 to decide which one they want to vote for. Ahead of this, both guns have been nerfed to reduce the damage to both players and structures.
Most notably, Titan Tanks have now been removed from Arena and competitive tournaments. The new vehicle is seen as really overpowered, with it having 2,500 health and the ability to deal large amounts of damage to players, although it can be countered by using the new Anvil Rocket Launcher. However, this change should help to balance out Fortnite’s competitive modes further.
Fortnite is available now on Android, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
