Within the folder are over 490 files, a staggering list even with a handful not actually being driveable vehicles. A huge range of cars from Volkswagen, Subaru, Renault, Porsche, Nissan, Mercedes, Mazda (Twerkstallion ‘92 returns), Lotus, Lamborghini, Honda, Ford, Ferrari, Chevy, BMW, Audi, and so many more will be available. Even if this is a non-final or partial list, part of a pre-release version of the game as other car licenses are finalized, car-heads and Forza fans should be more than pleased.
As exciting as the list is, however, there are some initial criticisms from within the Forza community. Virtually all of the cars on the list are returning from either Forza Horizon 3 or Forza Motorsport 7. The lack of Toyota production cars continues to be a frustration in the community, as well. Plus, the list as it stands is also driving worry that any significant new car additions to the game will be reserved for post-launch DLC.
The leak of the car list is an unfortunate event for Microsoft to deal with, especially with all of the excitement for Forza Horizon 4 coming out of E3 2018. If Microsoft was planning on building hype through teasing car reveals, that’s definitely less of a possibility now. Yet there’s always the opportunity to make lemonade when all there’s only lemons to be found, like how Rage 2 managed itself after its leaked announcement.
