TheGamingRevolution, a leaker who has accurately leaked Call of Duty news in the past, recently made a post on Twitter claiming to reveal a number of in-development Activision video game projects. According to TheGameRevolution, there are four Call of Duty games on the way, including Call of Duty 2020 (aka Project: Zeus), Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, a free-to-play Call of Duty game from Sledgehammer Games due out in 2021, and of course, the followup to 2019’s hugely successful Modern Warfare.

This is a lot of information to take in at once, so let’s unpack these one by one. The Call of Duty 2020 game that TheGamingRevolution is referring to is likely the title that’s in active development at Treyarch. Activision has so far opted to stay quiet about which studio is making Call of Duty 2020, but reports from credible sources claim that Treyarch has taken over development and that the game will likely be a Black Ops sequel taking place in Vietnam.

As far as Modern Warfare 2 Remastered goes, this is far from the first time that we’ve heard of such a game. Last year, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was listed on a ratings board, and more recently, another credible video game leaker claimed that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered would launch in 2020.

The free-to-play Call of Duty from Sledgehammer Games could be just about anything. Yet another battle royale seems like a distinct possibility, but then again, Activision may not want to siphon away players from Call of Duty: Warzone, which has been a runaway hit so far with over 6 million active players within its first 24 hours of availability. Maybe the free-to-play Sledgehammer title will be something like Call of Duty Mobile, a “best of” compilation that features a variety of popular Call of Duty multiplayer maps and modes. However, that’s just speculation at this time, and TheGamingRevolution says the game isn’t coming until 2021, so don’t expect any new information soon.

And finally, it’s a no-brainer that Infinity Ward is moving forward with a Modern Warfare followup. Since the game likely won’t be out until 2022 though, fans shouldn’t expect to learn anything concrete about it until May 2022 at the earliest.

It should go without saying, but Call of Duty fans should take all of this information with a massive grain of salt. TheGamingRevolution has accurately leaked Call of Duty news in the past, but that doesn’t mean this information is accurate. Everyone should keep their expectations in check until official announcements have been made.
